Issue 00 / Spring 2025
THE PUBLICATION
EDITORIAL STATEMENT
This first collection of exclusive interviews, curated to mark the launch of The Black Cube, unveils the breadth of contemporary discourse around moving image technologies and cultures. Festival directors, filmmakers, entrepreneurs, archivists, community organisers, investors, and others reflect on urgent questions across fields ranging from virtual production to the materiality of film, from accessibility innovations to conservation ecosystems.
With this prototype issue, we introduce The Black Cube as a new platform designed to amplify the voices redefining cinema and the wider moving image industry — and extend an invitation to further expand the conversation.
PROCESS STATEMENT
All texts in this issue are transcripts of live, recorded conversations, edited in collaboration with the authors. The selection of topics and areas of focus emerges from ongoing, direct dialogue with each contributor. AI is used solely for generating transcripts and proofreading the final edits. The editors-in-chief work as a duo and contribute equally to the creation of the final published interviews.
